We are attending a Quinceañera for the daughter of a friends. We have heard that they ate spending a very large amount of money on this event (almost as much as we spent on our wedding). We want to purchase an appropriate gift, but two separate spices have told is that you don't buy gifts for a Quinceañera.
Is this true?
If not, what would be appropriate? A card with money?
Thanks!!!

I don't know who told you it is not appropriate because it is. In Hispanic culture, the lady is turning from a child to a woman. It's a big deal.
Pick up a gift card for her because they are more personal than cash but also lets her buy what she wants. $20 would be an acceptable amount. The gift card can be from places such as Target where you can buy nearly anything or make-up stores like Sephura. If you know she likes reading, try Barnes and Nobles.
hope this advice helped!
Quinceñeras are a big deal. Give her something nice a women would like, I.E. something that symbolizes the change from child to woman. For example :
*Makeup
*A dress
*Some heels
*A bag
*Perfume
*Gift card to Sephora or Mac
Just things a woman would want.
