Virtually all of the world’s cultures have defined sacred spaces for religious purposes. The design and appearance of these spaces vary greatly. Fully identify two specific sacred spaces, at least one of which must be from beyond European tradition. For each choice, discuss the relationship between the appearance of the space and its religious function
i dont understand what i have to write about??

You could talk about something like the Acropolis in Athens for a European one (or maybe the close at Wells Cathedral in Somerset - a riot of statuary) and the Qu'bla in Mecca for the other - or maybe Ankor Wat in Cambodia - the Taj Mahal at Agra in India, or the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam, Tamilnadu state - again amass of artificail hills and statuary. (In many respects sites are conceptually more alike than they differ)
What you have to write about is a description of the site and why it looks like it does - the Acroplolis for example is obviously a dominant site in Athens - the building (a representation in stone of a timber temple) is the home of the Godddess Athena - the inside which was never seen is plain and the exterior is (was) highly decorated to impress the worshippers - note it is also a complex of other temples - heaps on line about it. Ankor Wat is a representation of Mount Meru - the home of Vishnu etc.the architecture relies for effect on a lot of repetitive lines which give emphasis to features - in the same way representations of deities have multiple heads and limbs to indicate their relative importance. Again loads on-line on this.
So just describe as fully as you can what's going on in each example you choose. They have not asked you to compare and contrast between your examples
