I ordered a DVD on Amazon earlier today (Friday) and when I ordered it, it said "Want it delivered by Saturday, November 5th? Select one day shipping at checkout." Which I did, but I looked just recently on their site and it still gives you the option to have it delivered by tomorrow if you order by 6:00PM. Is that possible? I thought things had to be shipped by like noon or so for them to be delivered the next day (especially a Saturday.) My order says the expected delivery date is tomorrow, Saturday, November 5th, but it still says "Shipping Soon." I'm worried that since it hasn't shipped yet there's no way it could possibly arrive tomorrow. I guess I'm just puzzled as to how they could manage to get something shipped from one of their warehouses at 6:00PM and have it at my door the next day. Maybe I just don't fully understand the shipping industry, I don't know...
Update:It's now almost 8:00PM and it still says shipping soon. But it still says the expected delivery date is tomorrow.

Amazon have a huge distribution network. If you're prepared to pay for next day delivery, they can indeed do it!
