I'm fourteen by the way, I'll try to keep this as short as possible. :)
I have naturally lightish brown hair. I wanted to be blonde to got blondish highlights then more highlights, then more to the point where I was nearly all blonde. I kept getting them redone because of my roots. Then I dyed my hair back to brown. Then, wanted to go back blonde and did so and did the same as before, kept going back to get my roots redone. But then I wanted to go back brown, heh. And now, here I am. My hair is a darkish brown because I dyed it but I have to dye it every 3-4 month because the blonde comes through a bit off where I dyed it earlier on. But when my natural colour comes through, I'll dye it much less often, probably about once or twice a year just so it looks a darker brown then my natural colour. (:
But now I'm asking, am I damaging my hair? I don't have split ends but I tend to straighten it about 4 days a week because of school as I have naturally wavy hair but some days I just tie it up. Ok trying to keep this short I'll stop blabbering on. I hardley ever dry it with a hair dryer I just let it dry naturally. I wash it almost everyday as it gets greasy quite easily. I switch shampoos & conditioners every now and then and I tend to use the expensive-ish ones. Like, the John Frieda kind or something like that.
Eeek, this is getting longer than I hoped. Anyways I protect it most of the time when I straighten it and use dry end serum most days so my ends stay moist and stops me getting split ends. I also use Volumising Conditioning Foam every few days as it strengthens and protects your hair. I also sometimes use Intense Repair Treatment from AVON.
So what do you think? What else could I do to make it healthier? Am I damaging my hair or what? Pleeeease help.
Thanks a lot.
♥

I think your natural hiar colour is very pretty!
Yes, colouring your hair so often can be damaging, but from reading your other questions (like the one about hair products :-) you use a lot of hair products, so your hair should be okay, but in my opinion, I would never dye my hair. I'm proud of my hair colour, and unless I have, like, gray or white roots, I'm keeping my natural hair colour.
:-D
Dying your hair darker does not damage your hair, because all it is doing is adding colour. However, making it go lighter (i.e. blonde) is soooo bad for your hair because you are sucking all the colour and nutrients out of your hair. I'd advise you to stick to dying it brown, it's a lot more classy than dying it blonde. (don't go too dark though it can make you look drained).
Straightening your hair IS bad for it, but in the end it has to be done! However, have you ever tried separating your hair into small sections while it's wet and plaiting it.. then leaving the plaits in over night. You might find this makes your hair stick out too much so a good way to control it is to get some curby grips and clip it into a half up half down? It might not work with your hair but I find it works with mine so it could be worth a try if you want to give your hair an occasional rest from straighteners. x
John Frieda is not an expensive shampoo. It's a good brand though.
Anyways, back to your question. Are you damaging your hair? Most definitely. But you seem to be taking care of it at the same time, so if it doesn't feel dry, or you don't have split ends, it's nothing to worry about.
All you had to say was that you repeatedly dye your hair, but you use Volumising Conditioning Foam and Intense Repair Treatment from AVON. Then it would have been short!!
It will damage is yes, but you are sort of combatting that with the treatments ect. Try washing your hair with vinegar, also egg too. That makes your hair lovely!

As a hairdresser.....Yes you know that. Try some low lights instead of colouring the whole thing next time.Your hair is fine so you better look after it to much Bleach it will snap right off! It has to bleach because color does not lift color! Joico is a great product.
in case you mean the straightening irons, specific, they do harm hair. The enforce itself isn't the priority, however the persons who use them. maximum don't understand a thank you to apply them wisely, and overheat their hair, or do it whilst the hair isn't thoroughly dry. Moisture interior the hair whilst heated will create steam and "explode" the hair on the interior and then in some months, when you have forgotten what you have performed, will the hair come aside and you don't understand why. various the warmth risk-free practices products could artwork slightly, yet suited use of the irons is what you are able to desire to do. keep in mind that as quickly as the wear is finished, you are able to not restore it. each thing works. yet you are able to desire to apply the astounding gadget interior the astounding thank you to get the outcomes you desire. utilising the incorrect gadget interior the incorrect way on the incorrect hair will consistently create a multitude.
