Many comparisons can be made from Plato’s “Allegory of the cave. Plato’s portrayal of human awareness can be examined many ways. Is ignorance bliss? Do humans find safety in not knowing? What forces humans to want more, and break free from the cave? Argue both sides using examples.

This sounds like a homework assignment in a Philosophy class.
The very nature of man is to want what he doesn't have. All advertising is based on that premise. You have a car, but you don't have a new car or that car that is being advertised.
The very nature of all animals is "Fight or Flight".
Once they left the cave-- they did not have the security of the cave. So as I recall that story, they returned to the cave. Security is a form of comfort, but is not appreciated until we have lost it - or fear that we will lose it-
As far as ignorance, most of us do not feel we are ignorant. Yet, we are and need to be ignorant of somethings else we would go crazy. Would you like to know the date and time of your death? If you knew that, it would cloud your mind. You could probably think of nothing else (intermittently.) That knowledge would overwhelm you. Study the death row convicts.
Ignorance is most blissful when we don't know we are wrong but think we know what we are doing -- or we think we are on the right track.
We are not safe when we lack certain knowledge of impending dangers, but we feel safe when we don't know about those dangers.
Great Story -- I actually have not heard that one -- Though I'm familiear with the "Nine-Dots" Riddle. But, it IS an Excellent Analogy about BELIEF SYSTEMS and How One "Interprets" and/or "Perceives" THEIR OWN REALITY. This is How people get "Stuck in the Box" and Refuse to believe that there ARE Alternatives to something that they strongly believe. And the longer that you have This "attitude" - The more you are likely to have a "knee jerk" Reaction to a Situation and Believe It -- BASED ON Something that INFLUENCED YOUR THINKING - But May be Totally Wrong -- But, It is Such a Strong Brainwashing Force -- That You cannot let go of the "way you see things" I am WRONG many times -- But, I try to Open my Mind that "This New Thing" just may be possible and Try to Grow. I think this Story is an Excellent Description of how the Innocent are Accused on This Site - Indicted, Convicted, and Ostracized -- all because of a MisInterpretation or Faulty Perception. Like the Police Officer that Only Suspects ONE Person of a Crime -- So He/She -- Does not bother looking for Anyone else. It's Sad - But it is All Too Human. We need So Badly to Evolve into "Listeners" instead of "Vigilantes" Awesome Post, Vicky* !! :) .
To suplament morpheuses answer.
Innocence is bliss for you do not fear what is yet unkown, but ignorance is a potential liability.
So no, ignorance is not bliss just because knowledge can become a burden.
Sometimes that statement is accurate and sometimes its far from it. There are times when we are better off in the dark because the truth may not set us free. However it really depends on the situation.
Ironically, man's quest to KNOW is driven by situationalism (new word I just invented).
could be, but only for ignorants
