The GTS 250 is slightly swifter than the Radeon 4850. The GTS 250 demands much less means and is likewise smaller, quieter and extra stable. Deferentially pass with the GTS 250
I have found that ATI drivers are much better supported on the long run than NVIDIA we had many probs with Windows 7 of top notch NVIDIA video cards dating back from just a few years ago and NO DRIVERS AVAILABLE !!!!!!

RADEON HD 4850 is slightly better because:
1) GPU clock rate: 625/625 MHz vs 585/1418 MHz
2) Memory clock: 990 (1980) MHz (1000 (2000) MHz) vs 945 (3780) MHz (850 (3400) MHz)
3) Bus width: 256-bit vs 128-bit
