I sincerely hope that by particles you mean subatomic particles.
I know what ur asking more than everybody else who says "oh oxygen has mass of blah while carbon has mass of blah" Ur saying that if mass is based off particles, wouldn't the number of particles be the same for a mass of any substance?
Okay, you can look at this from a normal physicist's point of view, or an astrophysicist's point of view.
Normal:
Protons and neutrons have a mass of 1 amu. An electron is 0.0005 amu.
So now lets take boron and helium (just because they are factors of 20 and its easy to calculate.). Now, lets take away their electrons. An atom of Helium should now have 4 (2 p 2 n) particles, both of which have a mass of 1.
An atom of Boron should now have 10 particles , each with a mass of one. Let's have two of the stripped boron atoms in one mass, and 5 of the stripped helium atoms in a mass. Both masses now weigh in at 20 amu. Now lets put the electrons back. The mass of boron should be given 10 electrons given back, and the hydrogen 10 as well.
OMFG STILL EQUAL!!!!!!1!!!1
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!
NEUTRON NUMBERS CAN CHANGE.
Boron could have 6 neutrons, and helium could have 1.
another thing you could have messed up on is calculating atomic mass. If you used the mass on the periodic table, then
YOUR WRONG!
Those number's are just averages of different isotopes of an element, not the atomic mass of the atom's you are using.
ASTROPHYSICIST'S:
A part of special relativity says that matter is energy and vica versa.
If a particle has more energy, it has more mass.
In subatomic level's particle behavior is also different then in normal sizes, and particles behave different then you would expect, rendering a mass count using weight meaningless. It would be better to do a particle count using TRUE subatomic particles(e.g. bosons, quarks, leptons.)
nobody is a virgin because physics screws us in the butt.
They should contain the same number of fundamental partials such as protons and neutrons but because they have a different number of these protons and neutrons in each nucleolus. This means that for the same mass you need more carbon atoms then oxygen.
We are Spirits having a Physical Experience The Atoms made our Earthly Outfit... Our Consciousness comes from our Mind which is where the Spirit/Soul Reside. not to be confused with the Brain which is Physical. The Mind works through the Brain while we are in a Physical Body The Body is just a shell which is shed when we Die and Death is Just returning to Our True Home in the Spiritual Realm The Mind can Exist without the Brain and the Body, but the Brain and Body cannot exist without the Mind If you have ever had an OBE (Out of Body Experience) it is the Mind which takes you places, you feel like you have a body, you feel like You are You but the only difference is you don't have the cumbersome shell called a Physical body. Once you return to your body you feel so very very heavy I have had OBE's for over 48 years... When I was in Grade School and started having these OBE's, I just assumed Everyone did...
There molar mass in short along with avogodros number has to do with it....
One mole of them has the same number of particles but they do not have the same weight or mass one mole of oxygen is apox 16 grams per mol and carbon is 12 aprox but there are the same number of particles
that is generally but it has to do with how big
the particles and how many but above is the general consciences

Ps. what is the "13." for?

Each oxygen atom has a mass of 18
Each carbon with a mass of 12
