My main character can already see ghost, but should be able to speak to them. Or would that make him cliché.
Update:I know it's been done before, but I finally got inspiration, so, I'm just going with the flow.

I think that's definitly Cliché, But if he doesn't speak to the ghosts then the story is blocked so...I suggest that they give him hints..Like when he's on the PC then a chatbox opens and he speaks with someone and they tell him that they're dead or something like that xD
I dunno if I helped but I hope I did :)
It's been done a lot. I think I've read one book where a character couldn't see or hear the ghost, they communicated through kitchen magnets and writing in dust. Even that's been done a hundred times.
What good is it if he can't speak to them? Can he hear them, or would he be able to communicate through something like sign language? Seeing ghosts and being able to talk to them seems a bit done, but there's always ways to spice it up.
Howdie!
It depends on how well you do it. There are literally thousands of ghost whisperer type stories and some are better than others.
In this day and age there are very little original ideas left so it's really up to you.
My advice would be not to give your main character the ability to talk to ghosts, if he can't communicate with them, only see them it adds plenty of dimensions and story paths for you to follow.
Good luck!
Well, it's not the most original idea, but it would help for the character to speak with ghosts. If they can see them, what good would it do if they couldn't communicate? That, to me, is the interesting part. But perhaps all humans can communicate with ghosts, as we do with each other? Your decision, but I think it's fine.
no. but how he got that power
