Will a sub-woofer be louder connected at 2Ω rather than 4Ω?
Thinking of buying a type-r and I can either get one where I can wire the dual voice coil to 4Ω or one at 2Ω. The 4Ω I can get cheaper but will it not be as loud? My amp is a JL 500/1
Actually, the JL500/1v2 amplifier is rated to produce the same power level for any impedance between 1.5 ohms and 4 ohms. Go ahead and get the cheaper Type R. With your particular amplifier, it won't hurt a thing.

The 2ohm will be louder...you'll get close to double the wattage going to the sub. The 4ohm sub (dual 2ohm) would be underpowered.
