fundamental Bible truth: “To earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”—Jeremiah 10:23.
Now that we have identified the beast and discerned how God views it, we are in a position to examine the final part of our puzzle—the number six and why it is written in triple digits—that is, 666, or 600 plus 60 plus 6.
Six is one short of seven. Would it not be a fitting symbol of something imperfect, or defective, in God’s eyes? Yes, indeed! (1 Chronicles 20:6, 7)
Moreover, six repeated three times, as 666, powerfully stresses that imperfection. That this is the correct view is supported by the fact that 666 is “a human number,” as we have considered.
Thus, the beast’s record, its “human number,” and the number 666 itself all point to one unmistakable conclusion—gross shortcoming and failure in the eyes of Jehovah.

A sign of imperfection.
First of all, the number was NOT written out in digits or in Roman Numerals as the Greek manuscripts may have been written. It was written out in words as "six hundred and sixty six". The number six is not an evil number just because a giant had six toes and six fingers in 1 Chronicles 20:6-7, that is over-stretching the interpretations a bit! In Isaiah 6:2 the Seraphims each had six wings and in Revelations 4:8 the four living creatures had six wings, so Watchtower consistency dictates those creatures were evil too, but that is NOT an interpretation! In Leviticus 12:5 a woman bearing a female child must have 66 days of purifying 2 weeks after the child is born. Does that mean a woman bearing a female child is evil because the number 66 is related???
If six being one short of seven is an evil number, then eight being one more than seven must be consistently evil also, but this interpretation is ridiculous! How that 666 number can become a UN government in the WBTS interpretation is incomprehensible, while they hypocritically admit to holding a library card marked 666 on it for 9 years! Turn 9 upside down, and you get the number 6!
Revelation 13:17-18 says, "Nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name. Here is where wisdom comes in: Let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a man's number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six."
The references refer to the Roman Empire of the time, and the number of the beast is a sacred or magical code system (gematria) that uses numbers for letters. It's highly probable that it refers to the Roman Emperor Nero, and the use of code was to avoid Roman reprisals.
There are other metaphors for Rome, like the whore of Babylon. John prophesies the imminent fall of the Roman Empire in the 1st/2nd century, followed by a Judaeo-Christian theocracy (Kingdom of God); a prophecy that didn't materialise.
The mark of the Beast was described some kind of mark or tattoo on the head or hand enabling people to be economically active within the Roman Empire. But it might possibly be Roman coinage with the head of the emperor, or perhaps some kind of imperial documentation.
The Beast in Revelation likely referred to the Roman Emperor Nero.
In Hebrew, letters are also used as numbers; the figure 666 is reached by adding up the numerical values of the Hebrew letters "Qsr Nrwn", which transliterates the Greek "Kaisar Neron" ("Emperor Nero"):
Q = 100
S = 60
R = 200
N = 50
R = 200
W = 6
N = 50
Total:666
Revelations replaced into written for the time of the reign of Roman Emperor Domitian who replaced into the 2nd Emperor to persecute the Christians. the 1st replaced into Nero. Revelations speaks of two beasts (financial ruin 13), it mentions the 2nd beast as worshipping the 1st. 666 is the variety of that first beast. while you're taking the words "Caesar Nero" in Greek, transliterate it to the Hebrew alphabet, upload up the numerical value of each and every hebrew letter, you get a finished of 666.
We are a carbon-based life form.
Carbon- 6 protrons, 6 neutrons, 6 electrons
It has been known for a while and now used by religion.
Well seven is the number of perfection. God has seven spirits. Creation took seven days, etc,
And six falls short of God's perfection. It is the number of man who was made in God's image

Yep, it's a man's number and represents gross imperfection.
Numerology is kind of its own thing. I'm not sure why you are seeing this as criticism necessarily...
God created us and later on we acquired free will (whether you see that as God's plan or not is up for debate). We are what we are. I am not saying we can't transcend where we are at, but original sin is a concept that theologians much wiser than anyone here have wrestled for centuries.
I am not saying we shouldn't consider it, but if we do consider such things we shouldn't jump to conclusions.
Correction: it's an Arab number. The romans would write DCLXVI.
