High taxes, high cost of living, high crime rates, declining quality of services, massive numbers of illegal aliens, streets littered with used needles & human feces (Nancy Pelosi's district in San Francisco is among the worst in the US!), nothing done about antifa & BLM rioters with the resultant burned-out businesses & job losses, declining opportunities under Democratic political machines with the concentration of power & decline of civility - all have contributed to the flight from Democrat disaster areas such as NYC, Chicago, SFO, LA.

A friend of mine is a gay man that grew up in the south and midwest.... he dreamed of moving to California and settling down in San Francisco where he "could just be himself"... That dream came true in the mid 1990s when he and his partner secured jobs that allowed them to relocate....

They bought a "fixer upper" in a great neighborhood which better than doubled in value....both he and his partner were pulling in six-figure incomes,  they adopted two sons and married a few days after same-sex marriages were legally recognized...  It should have been a dream come true.

But late last year he told me he was "fed up" with California and was moving... I asked him what happened and he told me he was sick of the failing schools, the homelessness, the crime and...most of all.. sick of a social and political culture that stood by and did nothing but preach empty notions of "progress" and "tolerance"....

He told me about how his sons were constantly propositioned by homeless people on their way home from school.... he told me about his good friend whose shop was put out of business by the shoplifting and vandalism of local youths....all because of the city's "progressive" approach to urban problems...

He told me about being shouted down by local "activists" that called his desire for safe streets "coded bigotry"... His partner, who is Asian American, noticed increasing levels of bigotry aimed at him and their two mixed-race sons...one of the "final straws" was when a city councilman....a young white woman from a wealthy family....called him "privileged" and "lacking empathy" when he demanded something be done to make the streets safer..

When they decided to move, his partner (who is in a high tech field) did hundreds of hours of research on different parts of the country...after researching numerous cities while considering factors such as economic potential, culture, diversity, safety and the quality of schools, they made their choice.

They moved to Plano, Texas in August this year.... and couldn't be happier..

...meanwhile, the value of their SF house dropped over 20% since they sold....

Unfortunately, a lot of those people also moved to Georgia and North Carolina and took their voting patterns with them.
