I love the guy’s show (360) but I’ve gotten more and more disgusted as I watch him make fun of this girl. She’s 16 (maybe 17 now I don’t know), married to a pervert, her parents signed off on it, and they should be thrown in prison for child abuse/neglect. Not to mention she’s become a media clown and made out to be a sex symbol when she’s a minor. The whole situation is disturbing and I wish that as Americans we would be more vigilant in protecting our youth, especially if their parents are unfit. Instead, we jump on the opportunity to capitalize off of people or think selfishly that it’s not our child, not our problem. I wished we thought more like Africans who say it takes a village to raise a child. I think it’s at best imprudent and immature, at most reckless, irresponsible, and malignantly opportunistic of Anderson Cooper. Cooper makes fun of her facial expressions on camera. My take is that she makes those expressions to look sexy, but she’s so damn young she doesn’t know how to really do it, and comes across looking silly. It’s sad. And it’s also sickening that the likes of CNN would use media space to perpetuate the continuous psychological damage that is being done to this young girl. She is probably so screwed up in the head right now it’s unreal. I hope when she develops a serious drug problem, or commits suicide or something at a tragic young age (knock on wood it doesn’t happen), Anderson can look at how he contributed to the psychological unraveling of a young woman.
Update:ality. It's not just a matter of morality, it's a psychological thing. It's unhealthy and this girl has problems. Just because it's legal doesn't mean that it's right. We live in one of the most litigious societies in the world where what is right and wrong is easily turned on its head, so that's enough to convince me its OK. But Cooper doesn't have to exacerbate her undoing by mocking her. I lost a lot of respect for him, because as adults we should be protecting children.

Despite any discomfort with his apparent mocking tone, he is keeping the issue alive which is why we are discussing it. It may not be tasteful, but he is holding the issue a bit longer in the public's eye which does create some chance for people to become more aware. God willing, people will take the core issues more seriously. It is a disturbing case, but not all that uncommon throughout this country.
I agree to an extent, but you have to admit: it was funny. There's also the issue of what else can he do? Everything about their marriage is completely legal... Morally wrong, but legal! They actually found a loophole to getting married as a 16 and 51 year old couple. Cooper is a very well-respected reporter and I think it's only natural that CNN, or any other news source for that matter, would make fun of Hutchison's marriage. I think in his hilarious sarcasm he was criticizing Stodden's parents and their "parenting skills." Anyway, I digress. Nothing Cooper says, whether mockingly or regretfully, is going to change Stodden's mind, nor I bet he would agree, it's none of his or the American public's business. If American society didn't pay so much attention to or place such a high value on things like their huge age-gap marriage or Kim Kardashian's 72-day marriage, perhaps this supposed publicity stunt would never have happened.
But I agree with you... It's sad. I wonder what her parents were thinking? She seemed honest (or at least a little) when she was professing her love to her 51-year-old husband during the interview, but my instincts tell me she's simply too young to know better. How many times have you heard of a 16-year-old falling in love? I think she's a victim. Very sad.
Anderson Cooper & Jodie Foster have been "out" for years. and function spoken approximately it. basically no longer politically lively. SO thats hardly being "outed". Anderson's mom is Gloria Vanderbilt .. he would not communicate approximately that lots the two. i do no longer think of that's a secret regardless of the undeniable fact that.
