It's similar to how some words become popular like "swag" and "yolo" and "legit" and "ominous" and "audacity". someone uses a word that's not usually used and it becomes cool because it's so different but then everyone uses it and it becomes normal then fades away again. Also some words lose or change meaning over time like "gay" or "******" or "pussy" or how the word "depressed" isn't as strong of a word as it used to be because so many people use it and it's become common and expected. also "hate" has lost it's strength because of the same reason, so many people use it and it's become common
