Jesus promisde this, as found here in the Bible, "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." (John 11:25-27) to tell us that once we place our faith in Him as Lord and Saviour that we (our soul) will live for ever with Him in eternity, therefore never truly dying. YOU are more than a body. You possess an eternal soul that will forever outlive your body in either heaven or hell/the lake of fire. Choose now where YOU want to go!
Jesus was speaking of spiritual death, dear one. We all have to die physically, but those who have accepted Jesus sacrifice as payment in full for our sins, will never die spiritually. We will spend eternity with Him
25Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
He is referring to a spiritual death, not physical death. If you believe in Christ, your spirit will not die, but have eternal life.

God bless!
Let' take the good thieve example.
Hung on the cross he asked Jesus: "Remember me in Your kingdom".
Jesus answers: "I tell you today that you'll be with Me in paradise for sure"

See?
Jesus didn't say: "today you'll be in paradise".
He said: "you'll be in paradise".

Why?
Sins have to be removed before someone among us get's into heaven.
For sins to be removed justice must be executed.
So Jesus was executed in our behalf.
His blood then is our guarantee to be saved.
And His defense as our only lawyer next to God.

The good thieve was buried that friday afternoon as well as Jesus and the other thieve.
Jesus rose from the tomb and ascended to be received by His Father and is now representing all repented soul next to the Father.
Soon this ministry of justification of repented souls by Jesus will come to an end and only then the reward of eternal life will be granted.

Death is relative. I can die to my old way of living and still be alive. That's what Jesus was saying.
It has something to do with the difference between physical death and spiritual death.
you may want to consider the difference between death of the flesh and death of the conciousness.
They did not die, you can not prove it...
