I think York is probably the most beautiful. Bath is also very beautiful. Both are very interesting places if you are keen on history. Canterbury has some absolutely lovely parts, but also some modern hideousness, but then I suppose most cities are the same. But again, if you are interested in history, Canterbury is a very interesting place to visit. Chester is lovely. Winchester also.
London has some wonderful parts, but much of it is hideous. However, it is crammed with fascinating historical places to visit.
Edinburgh is beautiful too, a very striking place (you need to be fit to go there though, it is all built on very steep hills).
Definitely Bath or Oxford, although both have some pretty shabby areas.
Really, if you're visiting UK check out some of the villages - they're easy to get to and almost too picture perfect to be true. I'd like to recommend Wallingford. There are trains every 30 minutes to Oxford or Reading from London (max 90 minutes on the train from Paddington) then take a bus from either to Wallingford - it's absolutely gorgeous - a village onthe river Thames with one of the loveliest views upriver in the country, a good quality museum, nice pubs, the annual beer and music Bunkfest (first weekend of September). All this and only half an hour from Oxford, dreaming spires, the Ashmolean museum, romantic city centre walks and some of the most wonderful architecture in the country.
Cardiff, its UK's youngest capital as its the capital of Wales. Its got its own castle, its really compact and the people are lovely. Its got Cardiff Bay, which is great for eating and watching the sunset.
I come from London, but its just so big, but Cardiff is alot smaller and people in Cardiff and Wales are really friendly.
You should travel to a few cities as that way you'll have a real taste of the UK. Cardiff is only 2 1/2 hrs from London and you can visit Bath on the way, straight down the M4 or a train from Paddington.
Whatever you do I hope you have a great time and enjoy it so much you want to come back.
I think that London is the city most beautiful of United Kingdom, it has beautiful architectural works as the palace Buckingham, this has a good climate geralmente cold I like the cold ha ha, ah and it is the capital of United Kingdom so it is great!!!.
Try going to York - it's one of the cities with older, grander scenery :) most of the major cities are too urban to be beautiful - too much grey, not enough green, if you know what i mean :)

For a city I would say York.
Despite all the town planners attempts to ruin it, the place is still rather lovely, and very English.
However - I would avoid cities and go to some of the beautiful towns.

In no particular order - Bath, York, London, Edinburgh.
Avoid Birmingham at all costs.
Bath

London - not the rough parts, go to the tourist attrarctions. Nice there :) Also, try York or Newcastle.
Edinburgh - despite the horizontal rain.
