Hey guys. I live in Toronto and my wife and I are affected by the CUPE strike heavily. We seriously have no clue what to do with our garbage. Our neighbours have been illegally dumping their garbage. But both my wife and I don’t want to do that (because of the $5,000 fine) also we have a child who’s in daycare (which is now closed) and we both work during the day so we are seriously stumped on what to do with our daughter as well. We can’t take her to work with us …
How are YOU coping with the strike so far?
It’s only been Day 2 and we are going through hell right now.
And I also heard that LCBO is going on strike as well, lol.
I can’t believe what is going on with our city. If you have thoughts, please share. Thanks!

Well LCBO got rich overnight making $17 million for their "strike" and their not but with the garbage - all I can say is have a family watch your child and drive your garbage to the back of an apartment building or grocery store n dump it in their garbage. I live in a condo so I jus throw it down the disposle until i get a notice from the building to cut down on garbage.
Good Luck ♥ n enjoy heat wave :|
Unions suck, plain and simple. I like the idea of unions, but I hate the way they're implimented. They're supposed to protect the rights of the workers, but wind up protecting the lazy and unproductive members of the company. These things were necessary about 100 years ago when workers had no rights, but today they're an anachronism that serves the union before serving the people they're supposed to represent.
Scrap the unions and bring in private contractors. I'm sure that this can and will improve the morale of future strikers.
The unions are going squirly and causing problems. So far no major problems, and it seems that the demands of the unions are a little unreasonable so i hope they bring in private contractors and leave the unions on the curb for a while. Maybe next time they will come to the table a little more level headed.
