Inspired by Glenn Gould and Helene Grimaud, I've decided I'm going to try to attempt to play Intermezzo Op. 118 No. 2. It's a challenge, but I'm up for it, and I'm especially excited about the emotional and aesthetic factor of it and rendering it my own.
Pianists, what is your favourite Brahms piece to play, and the rest of you music-lovers, which one do you enjoy listening to the most?

I'm a big fan of the Op. 117 no. 2 in B-flat minor and plan on playing it for an upcoming exam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ1OY3AQGiQ
Also, I like the Op. 118 no. 5 Romance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywuTgwaRjN0 (best recording I've heard, although it's missing a few bars of the B section).
the 1st piano concerto - i think of that the 1st circulate is between the main outstanding ever penned, and if he had written no longer the rest, he could have been hailed as between the excellent unique composers. The piano quartet #a million - however I confess to who prefer Schoenberg's magnificently overblown orchestration of it. IMO too lots orchestral Brahms was performed as though the orchestra had subsisted on a weight loss plan of Viennese pastries - whilst performances like Loughran and the Hallé symphonies tutor Brahms as a extra muscular composer with extra advantageous word being paid to Hungarian impacts. i think of that for each guy or woman who's attracted to Brahms whilst he's performed with soupy romanticism, 2 are placed off by employing the ensuing turgidity. Blame the conductors!
I love listening to all the Brahm's late piano works and the one you've chosen is especially one of my favourites.
At the minute I am also very fond of the Intermezzo in E minor,Op.119 no.2:
