How would i figure this out?! Thanks!
rise over run
y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 = (-2 - 10) / (4 - (-2)) = -12 / 2 = -2
j
distance between horizontal coordinates = -2 - 4 = -6 units
distance between vertical coordinates 10- (-2) = 12
slope = -2
y = -2x + c
take either of the two pairs of coordinates: x = -2, y = 10
10 = 4 + c so c = 6
y = -2x + 6
The change in y divided by the change in x.
That is: -2-10/4-(-2)= -12/6 = -2
y2 - y1 / x2 - x1
- 2 - 10 / 4 - - 2
- 12 / 6 = - 2
You need to take the rise over run...the x numbers over the y numbers...
slope=(y1-y2)/(x1-x2)=12/(-6)=-2
