I would like to know the origin of one of my ancestral surnames, which as far as I know, comes straight from Leon, Spain, to Brazil... any help would be very appreciated, as this surname spelling seems to be very RARE... also if possible I would like to know from the more experienced genealogists in here, if there could be anything French about it, as it seems to be a little bit French in the way it is written at least...
Thanks.

There are quite a few records for the name in the Albacete, España records. There are a few with this name in the US passenger lists coming from Spain and Portugal. Otherwise, the name is rare in the records on ancestry.com
The Spanish González and the Portuguese Gonçales comes from the names Gonzalo and Gonçalvo; the [-ez] and [-es] suffixes mean "son of..."
The name Gonzalo/Gonçalo comes from the following:

i believe the portuguese version is gonçalVes.
