I always ordered the same thing at Bruegger’s bagels and the manager who waited on me knew I always got chicken breast on a bagel and I ordered the same thing all the time. Is this weird to do?
Now today, I went there after 3 years ago and I ordered a chicken breast on a bagel and he rang me up and said to me in a weird way and was kind of serious: “AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, YOU STILL GET THE SAME THING! CANT YOU GROW UP AND TRY SOMETHING ELSE?” And he gave me a goofy look and I have no idea how he remembered me!! He was frustrated and treated me like I was a retarded customer.
How does he remember me after all these years I stopped going there? It was 3 years ago I was always a regular and he has always thought I was such a weirdo for getting the same thing all the time and that I don’t try anything else.
Is this weird? Does he think I am nuts?!!

No, you are not nuts. I think he may be nuts!
I think the manager was trying to joke with you. Sometimes things stand out in peoples minds. You think that was strange when I was little my grandparents used to take me to the same restaurant every Tuesday night for over 10 years. I used to order the same thing. About 2 years ago I ran into one of the waitresses that used to work there, I wasn't' sure if it was her and I asked if she used to work at that particular restaurant. Do you know that not only did she used to work there but she remembered me after a good 15 years have passed since I ate there and she even remembered what kind of soup I used to get! So yeah sometimes little things stick out in people's minds.
Maybe he was joking and he has a really terrible sense of humor. It's not far-fetched that he remembers you, but it's weird if he was actually frustrated. Maybe he's crazy?
Usually managers are happy to see repeat business. It means that they get to stay open for a little longer. Maybe he's jealous that you got to leave town for three years while he didn't.
Whatever you order and eat it's not his problem!
He should be thankful you're spending money eating there.
