What happens if the earth is straight up and not tilted 23.4°, would there be no seasons? I heard that a giant asteroid hit the earth long ago and caused the earth to lean 23.4° which in turn created seasons.

The Earth isnt tilted. The rest of the universe is!
You're correct. If the Earth's axis weren't tilted, there wouldn't really be seasons. The climate for a particular place would be roughly constant throughout the year. There would be some variation, of course, due to various other factors, but nothing like the recognizable seasons that many places have now.
And, obviously, this is a gradual thing; if the Earth were tilted, say, 10 degrees, we'd still have seasons, but the differences between them would be less extreme than they are today.
If there were no tilt there would be no seasons.
The Moon is believed to have been created by a Mars size object hitting Earth billions of years ago, but I never heard it that was also believed to have caused the present tilt.
Then the earth isn't tilted 23.4*
No tilt = no seasons.
Yes, no seasons, and maybe that giant was what we now call the moon. Or maybe that's just made up.
