Remember it is an abomination.
Update:Lev 11
9These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

A true Christian (I don't know the keystrokes to make the registered character), eats shrimp, it gets digested, his liver filters out the iodine, and he's happy with his seafood meal.
A true Christian has one law to follow: love one another the way Jesus told us to.

Come on, guys, it's in your own Bible, in the very same book that calls homosexuality an abomination:
Leviticus 11:10-12:
"And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcasses in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you."
That's four "abominations" in three verses. I think God means business here. So when are we going to see a ballot proposition to shut down all Red Lobsters?
Ok, I also got the big deal on the whole, :"You're not a Christian if you follow the old testament."
But why would the make the Bible out of the new and old testament if they use both testaments in church. (Christian church, please note)
Why don't they just take out the old testament and say that that one is for Jews, and the new one is for Christians?
Oh and if God didn't want us to eat something then He shouldn't have put it on earth in the first place. That includes plants that are only good for drug use.
nothing those laws no longer apply
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Um, people.....the New Testament is the Old Testament rewritten for a more favourable image.
As for the the argument that it's in the Old Testament so it is invalid....so is the comment in Lev regarding homosexuality.
It's just the typical cherry picking and seeking out other random scripture to justify said cherry picking.
That's in the Old Testament. With Jesus, things kinda changed. Remember in the New Testament when Peter had that vision about a sheet filled with animals coming down? God told him to eat, but he said he wouldn't eat anything unclean or common. God replied by saying that what He has cleaned you can't call common. (Acts 10)
Congratulations!
You are the ONE MILLIONTH Yahoo Answers participant to confuse Judaism and Christianity!
(Oh yes: Seventh Day Adventist still observe Torah Law -- to a degree -- so they avoid shrimp as well.)
Now, everyone who STILL hasn't let it sink in what several have already explained above and CONTINUE to be clueless about the differences between the Old Covenant (Old Testament) and the New Covenant (New Testament), please be sure to reaffirm your ignorance of these facts by clicking on the THUMBS-DOWN icon below!

BONEHEAD: {I will resist the temptation to congratulate you on your name.} You really DO need to read the Bible before debating professionals and looking foolish. At what became known as the Council of Jerusalem in Acts of the Apostles, chapter 15, the early apostles addressed the question of which laws from the Torah were still to be observed by followers of Christ. Prohibitions against sexual sins were reaffirmed. Dietary laws such as crustacean discrimination were deemed canceled.
So the n-th attempt to parrot the old line about Christians being inconsistent about which Torah laws they should still observe fails. (Surprise. Surprise.) Read Acts 15 so you don't keep repeating the same mistake.
So.....you are 0 for 2 so far. Better luck next time!
They stop being Jewish.
Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament law and created a NEW covenant. Meaning anyone who follows old testament law is NOT Christian. They're most likely Jewish.
Christians that use Leviticus against Homosexuality are NOT christiands, they're Jews.
I should think that a crustacean eating Christian is operating under Christ's grace rather than Levitican law. Therefore this Christian can wear mixed fibers as well, and should extend grace to gay people.
you missed the part
Act 11:6 When I observed it intently and considered, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.
Act 11:7 And I heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.'
Act 11:8 But I said, 'Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.'
Act 11:9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, 'What God has cleansed you must not call common.'
