The spiciness can vary depending on the person that makes it, but it's pretty much chewy rice cake pieces covered in spicy goodness. When I make it at home I always make it slightly less spicy by controlling the amount of red pepper paste I put in. You have to eat ones that are freshly made, though, because the rice cake gets hard to chew & not so yummy after a few hours. If you can't handle spiciness AT ALL then you probably wouldn't like it.
