What does “the mass teachings” and "in the scores of millions" in this sentence mean?
The people, transported by their suffering and by the mass teachings with which they are inspired, stood around in the scores of millions, to demand the retribution should be exacted to the full.
Plus: the sentence is about the conference in Paris right after ww1.

Update:It is the "peoples" not the people. And I am sure it is not about Hitler. Because he did not came into power in 1919.

A score is 20, so scores of millions means at least 20 million, maybe 40, maybe 60 . . . .
By mass teachings, I think the author is referring to the kind of propaganda that Hitler and Mussolini engaged in, giving speeches to huge crowds, filming them and showing them in theaters, telling the masses that their problems can be blamed on certain people and that if they support the leader, their country will rule the world.
