I'm studying Japanese puns (駄洒落)and I've come across this one:
『めがね(をとったら)目がねぇ』
any help for understanding the sentence would be much appreciated!
Update:Details of the verb (ie. the verb-stem) is really what I'm after!

"Glasses (have taken) Hey eyes"
The verb stem is åã. (Toru)
It simply means to remove/take off (one's glasses) in this sentence but it could mean a lot of ther things as well.
Here nee is a slangish version of "nai" (for the sake that it sounds the same way as megane - glasses)
If I/you take off your glasses, I/you will have no eyes
Past + ra is a conditional where the focus is rather on the product and not on the condition (as opposed to the ba conditional)
you shouldnt be studying puns if you dont even know basic grammar.
Tottara measn "If Taken"
ttara can be used with many words, it means If.
Megane wo tottara meganai, If the glasses are taken away then I have no eyes
ã¨ã£ãã means have taken
it means (Have taken)
