Why?
Now this is a good question. Actually, I think it is THE question. Simple, plain. Just one word. It's neither "why?" in the sense of "Why are we here?" nor in the sense of "Why did I ask this on Yahoo Answers?". Well, actually it can be, but it is much more fundamental than that.
I didn't put this on for nothing: yesterday I woke up, I ate my breakfast and I went to work. When I came back and got into bed to sleep, this question arose from deep inside me, so loud i could even hear someone else's voice shouting it in my room. I really want to know the answer, or better, THE answer(s) to THE question, as I think everyone in the world does. And if you can't catch its meaning (and thus / or) can't provide an answer, how come every other question have a meaning, an answer, if the most fundamental and deep question you can ask yourself doesn't?
The title of the question means "why" in the different languages I speak, I wrote it like that mainly due to the 10 characters required, but may have other meanings: does each language assign a different meaning to the same concept? Is the italian "Perché?" the same as the german "Warum?" and the portuguese "Porque?"
Update:Aegle: I'm not so sure myself since i'm not Portuguese mothertongue and i say this humbly, but it shouldn't be neither "porque" or "porquê", but "por que". http://educacao.uol.com.br/disciplinas/portugues/p...

'Why' assumes a purpose. What if there isn't a reason, just a causation? Why we do what we do is bound up in social rules, the instinct to survive and the need to have the means to support ourselves. If we can satisfy them by doing something different, then one might reasonably ask why we continue to do what we do.
We are here. None of us asked to be. That is true for all generations going back through time. We make the best of it in a moderately sustainable way because it makes sense to do so.
Even if we could frame an ultimate question, there is no ultimate answer. We evolved by chance. After us, it may be intelligent, evolved cockroaches wondering why, when the reality is that there was no reason beyond their being best adapted to fill the vacancy in the prevailing ecosystem.
It seems that the simple question 'Why' is 'merely' the entrance portal to all philosophy, science, religion...
It is the fuzzy-edged vagueness that gives it it's power of transformation!
Like a 'mandala'!
Why?
Why not! *__-
Addiction.
Yes.
In Portuguese is "Porquê" not "Porque".
The correct answer is 'why not'.
Aegle, is "Por que" and "Por quê", it just depends on the punctuation.
Yeah, why not.
