They were part of a board of directors for this foundation which included several other people. One of these was Walter Annenburg, who is also a close friend of McCain's.
As you can see, they were not "best friends" when they worked on this project, and Obama probably knew little about Ayers's past when he agreed to join the board.
This is just one more attempt by the McCain campaign to say "He's not like you." People who care about the facts know it's not true. People who don't care believe it and it increases their conviction that he's not like them.
They try to say that just because Obama was heading it and Ayers was running it, they try to paint it like it is possible that they did not know each other well or whatever.
The fact is that if some one appoints you as the head of his board or to head up a foundation, he has to know you quite well and you also have to trust each other, since there is a big fiduciary responsibility in that role. So, to paint it like they were virtual strangers is ridiculous.
yes they did but the important thing is that the education foundation was a good thing that everyone agreed on so it doesent matter who he did it with as long as it worked

True 100% CAC = Chicago Annenburg Challenge, Obama was in charge of dispursing $98 million, does it look like Chicago schools are the better for it?
Too bad they didn't use the money to directly educate and enhance the schools, instead they gave most of the money to "community organizing groups"
