My friend, the two tornado that hit the Rockaways section of the Queens and the Canarsie section of Brooklyn are nothing compare to the ones that pop a lot in the Midwest Therefore, there is nothing to worry about during your upcoming trip on October 1.
However, do note that the weather in New York City during the month of October is absolutely lovely and makes it one the best months to visit the city, as the leaves shower down from the trees, making it a great time to walk around and take in all the sights and attractions New York City has to offer.
Good luck
That's a tiny section of the city, and no where near any place a tourist would go!
NYC is HUGE, far bigger than most tourists realize. You will only see a small part of it as well.
