Extremely easy equation. I hope you actually see how I calculated it in my HEAD, because it's very easy, and fun when you know how to. I hope this helps, and that you learn from it!
Your answer is X=5. Use the distributive property first to get 2x + 12 -x -1=16. Then combine like terms. Remember that there is always an imaginary "1" behind the "x" whenever there isn't a number behind it. So when combining like terms you get 1x + 11=16. now subtract 11 on each side and you get x=5.

Verified answer
2(x + 6) - (x + 1) = 16
2x + 12 - x - 1 = 16
2x - x = 16 - 12 + 1
x = 5

X=5
2(x + 6) − (x + 1) = 16
2x+12 - x - 1 = 16
x+11=16
x=5
2x+12 -x -1 =16
x +11 = 16
x= 16-11
x= 5
x = 5 easy
why?
2x + 12 - x-1 = 16
x+11 = 16
x= 16-11 =5
do you understand?

2x+12-x-1=16
x=5
Distribut------> 2x+12-x-1=16
Isolate the variable-----> 2x+12-x-1=16
-12. -12
2x-x-1=4
Combine like things----->1x-1=4
Isolate the variable------->x-1=4
+1=+1
X=5
THAT WAS EASY!!!
Lol it's funny when people come here for answers to their homework, especially when it's this easy
