a cat is placed in a sealed box with unstable gun power that could go off at any time without us knowing, therefore killing the cat. since we can only know if the cat is dead by opening the box, our observation effects the outcome, making the cat both alive and dead simultaneously.

Update:@Jedediah , I KNOW ! that was Schrödinger's way, einstein used the gun powder. i just used this way to explain it easier. ......

This is a concept that repeats itself in science and philosophy. George Berkeley founded the postulation that should a tree fall in the woods, would it make a sound if nobody was around. The answer is obvious, as it was for Copernicus being executed for his bizarre thoughts on astronomy. We are not the center of the Universe, nor the solar system, or anything else. The physics of the universe will play out with or without us.
Heisenberg proposed a more interesting twist in that we do have effect on everything around us. Specifically in Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle he theorized that no particle can be measured in position or velocity because any attempt would affect it's position and velocity. Now here, we're not the center of sh!t but at the same time, we have validation in existence. We have affect on the universe around us.
Coming back to kitty. Although we won't know until the box is opened as to its fate, its fate is determined independent of our knowledge. But, equally so, some dumb @ss put kitty in the box and therefore we have affect on the world around us.
Lesson here is, leave kitty alone.
Cat's have 9 lives, therefore the cat simultaneously has 9 lives left and 8 lives left, which means 9=8.
I'm pretty sure putting a cat in a box with radioactive material and a Geiger-counter hooked up to a device which is rigged to smash a vial of hydrogen cyanide will cause a mathematical paradox that will destroy the entire universe. Good thing Schrödinger never carried out his experiment.
But that isn't true, it was actually a vial filled with hydrocyanic acid that would break when radioactive molecules decayed.
Nice try.
Open the box and help the poor kitty..
