"Sus amigos es de México." is this correct grammar/verb conjugation for a Spanish sentence?

I'm talking about the "es" part. Sus amigos ___ de Mexico" is es right?

It requires a small change like this Sus amigos SON de Mexico. You can also say Sus amigos son Mexicanos

you do not want to match the verb with "Mexico" but with "sus amigos" which is like saying "they" they = son.
