I have pretty long straight hair and I know I get a lot of damage from washing my hair with shampoo so after much research online I found that washing hair with conditioner helped this damage. I was wondering which conditioners were the best to do this, or for some links to some. I stay from products with silicone and tons of chemicals because they don't do well in my hair.
Anyway thank you in advance for you answers, I really appreciate it!

You could do the no conditioner thing or you could just get a chemical free shampoo so you don't have that "dirty hair" feel, because trust me, the first couple of times you wash your hair with just conditioner it feels like you haven't washed it at all. It takes getting used to. I started doing the no poo when my hair got heat damaged and it was seriously dry, but my stylist told me about some brand called pro naturals and I looked them up online and got their shampoo/conditioner (sulfate, paraben, alchohol free of course) and my hair was like all soft and shiny as if I had washed with conditioner but I could use shampoo and not feel all icky.
I like the hair mask/deep conditioner by "Organix". The "Instant Recovery Mask" in Awapuhi Ginger is divine. I buy it at CVS. I've bought products from salons for much more, but it's still hit or miss with the quality of a product no matter how much you pay. I don't style my hair much more than applying a frizz cream, or curl spray, or a braid, but am always tying it up, & re-tying it up in pony tail or bun at work. I'm physically active at my job, so my hair can get dirty or quickly wrapped in a bun & damaged from the lack of styling, I've been told. Another deep conditioner I like is Aussie 3 minute miracle. I've been using it since I was a kid. I've stayed away for years in between to try higher end products, but always congee back to it! Also a product you can find at most drug stores.
Washing my hair with conditioner? That's like using hand lotion every time! That's NOT WASHING. That's still dirty hair. In other words, that's like sweeping dirt under a rug!
I haven't used conditioner on my hair for 17 years. We also have soft water. When traveling, I briefly rinse with bottled water. Celebrities rinse theirs with Perrier water. ~ InStyle mag.
Hair products are NOT made of glue to fix, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged, or hair loss, or make them grow . . . . they are a trillion dollar business. They also do NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss caused by heat & chemicals - hair's worst enemies.
"No hair can change the hair's biology," says Eric Bone, senior VP of global research and innovation @ L'Oreal USA. "Products that 'repair' them are like glue used to put a broken vase back together. At the end of the day, it's still broke," says dermatologist Paul J. McAndrews, MD, a clinical professor @ the University of Southern California School of Medicine. "Overall, products are a temporary fix, although some can help prevent damage. But your best bet is really to stop damaging hair, period."
I agree with Coco, the Organix mask for hair is amazing. I put it on after my hair is shampooed, then leave it on while I shave or wash my body.
I also recommend not using shampoo because they strip hair of it's natural oils (not fun stuff). Use baking soda mixed with water (or a little shampoo if you want) and you'll have much softer, voluptuous hair!

You should wash your hair with shampoo bc it is for cleaning the hair. Conditioner will not clean your hair, it will still be dirty after you're done. Try an organic shampoo, or wen shampoo..they don't have bad chemicals, and still get your hair and scalp nice and clean.
maybe head to your neatest salon and ask one of the stylists, they have tonnes of product and could probably recommend a good store brand.
good luck and take care!
