Kind of a weird question, sorry.
If I ride after I have shaved my legs, even of I have a weeks worth of growth I get the NASTIEST razor bumps on the backs of my thighs.
Do any of you have this problem? Is there any way (other than not shaving) to make this stop?
Thank you
Update:Gisel- that would be the worst thing ever :( Maybe I'll take a Benadryl before I ride next time
I've been riding for 13 years and this has always happened. It dosen't matter if I ride bare back or with a saddle (always western), I don't really have "riding pants" just whichever pair of jeans is already dirty. I do have really sensative skin (I blame the ginger gene).

maybe your allergic to the horse hair, or something and because that area is sensitive after you shave, it gets you there the most because i've rode horses for years and i have never had his problem /:
It sounds like more like a skin issue rather than a horse riding one.
Possibly it could have something to do with the pants you are wearing. Try wearing a different sort of fabric pants. Maybe that will help. If not shave your legs after you ride.
I'd say it's just down to sensitive skin and the movement of your skin against your jeans. Irritations are horrible with super sensitive skin. Someone's already suggested it'll probably be better to shave after you ride, give your skin some 'breathing' time!
is your riding pants like too small and they may be sliding up or do they rise up while riding? if so its because your skin is rubbing against the leather of the saddle and it gets irritated leaving a rash.. but if you have tall boots then that not the problem because they protect that part of the leg. if you have short boots try to wear long socks like knee socks so it gives an extra layer before your skin starts to get itchy/red/irritated.
Hmm... sounds more like a skin irritation problem than a true horse problem.
Have you tried wearing different pants? Or how about applying lotion after shaving?
Why dont u just ewar long pants when you ride? If i was you i would put moisterizer on my legs after shaving, maybe some sort of numbing cream, that way yuour pores will close
The only thing I could think is maybe chaps, or tighter fitting jeans.
You are the first woman (and I've known my fair share) to ever mention this problem. Obviously I have no experience with this but you are right - its kind of weird.
