Based on hadith if a muslim says assalamu alaikum you should say at least the same word wa alaikum salam or.more wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullah. If a non muslim said to you assalamu alaikum you.must answer wa alaikum. We muslims do.not say salamat which means good.Peace be upon you means salallahu allaihi wa salam
i would go with, "salamat", but that is Filipino for "thanks"; so maybe "salam".
Salam or salaam --(Arabic: سلام, salam) is an Arabic word that literally means "peace", but is also used as a general greeting, above all in Arabian countries and by the Muslims, but also in other countries .
As-salāmu ʿalaykum is a greeting in Arabic that means "peace be upon you". The greeting is a standard salutation among Muslims, whether socially or within worship and other contexts. The typical response to the greeting is waʿalaykumu as-salām (وَعَلَيْكُم السَّلَام [waʕaˈlaikumu sːaˈlaːm]; "and upon you, peace").
