Here’s what I can remember, and from what I remember the film sounds like a b-movie or hammer horror type film.

I watched this film in the 90’s as a kid so it’s pre 1995 but I think it was older- 1980’s or 70’s possibly.

A man comes to stay at a hotel, and he’s on the search for a missing brother.

While staying at the hotel he has strange dreams at night where he finds himself in an old attic.

There’s a ghostly, mean woman who keeps shouting to him to “sign the book”, the book appearing to be like a guest book for a hotel, and it’s later gathered/realised the book has to be signed in your blood.

I also remember there being a trolley or stand of hand puppets?! That move and talk with no hands in them.

While these dreams crop up, the man befriends a woman staying at the hotel and somewhere along the way, with her waking up with a cut on her hand after the dream about signing the book, they go investigating.

They find a hidden stair in the mans room leading up, the stairs emerge in the attic from their dreams.

The puppet stand thing is there but inanimate, no ghost, but the bloody ledger is, in this (while the woman has gone for help I think) the man finds his brothers name in the ledger.

The man explores the attic more and in another room at the back finds his brother lying dead in a coffin.

After that all I remember is the man and woman outside the hotel driving away while the attic is on fire.

Sounds awful, but I was a kid when I remembered this!
