So, im looking at a 200 Jeep Wrangler. Everything checks out okay so far, but it's a manual!
The guy selling it offered to teach me and said its impossible to stall it because You don't use gas to switch gears....? I think that's what he said. What's he talking about?
Also, it has 85000 miles.... too much? He said it was maintained well and I am welcome to have a mechanic look at it, but my mom cringed at the 85k mark.
here are it's stats:
2000
4.0 (4 cylinder?)
85k miles
1 owner
road or highway
autostart
newer carpet
cracked windshield
small dent on passenger side door
2 inch lift
33" tires ($1700 all season)
soft top
manual
7000 offer of 6200
My questions:
1) Is stick shift easy? Ive only ever driven automatic
2) What does he mean about it being impossible to stall?
3) is 85k miles too much?
Update:Whoops, 2000* Jeep wrangler.
4.0 liters.

1.) Its easy if you put in the time to learn, the more you drive the easier it gets.
2,) Any manual you can stall, if you feel it starting to shake you can push the clutch in and it won't stall, this also will disengage the power to the drive shaft so you will need to get back to the gas to start the car moving. Once you master when to push the gas, and when to push the clutch you will know how to dirve the car.
3.) 85K, that almost new, my car has 280K (93) cavelier and runs great! Good luck!
1) Learning stick shift can be different for everybody, but once you realize what really makes it all work, it's really easy. Practice and you could be good at it in one day, sometimes it could take someone weeks to figure it out, everybody's different. (Practice in school parking lots with no hills for starters, I practiced on a hilly area and it confused me so do that later)
2) I think he's exaggerating, it stalls but maybe something about it keeps from stalling as easy, that's good... You can feel the difference between different vehicles and their clutch "bite" (the more you let go of the clutch the more it allows the wheels accelerate more.) so maybe it's just different in that way.
3)85k isn't too much.
jeep 4.0 inline six motors are known to run 275000 mile with no problem. do have a mech. look at it and never pay full price always offer less then the asking price. and dont be affraid to walk away cause after you buy it there will be a way better deal and it will piss you off. so always get a good deal. driving a clutch is easy. i always tell people learning to just find a empty parking lot and let the clutch out slow first do worrie about the gas, if you let it out slow enough you will learn when you need to push the gas, before it stalles. good luck
manual is easy to learn just listen to the engine noise so u dont rev to high. impossible to stall is a meaning for once u get it moving faster its harder to stall but it can happen. 85000 miles aint much because most pl believe the higher the mlage the worse the car is but thats not tru. wats the real deal is that a car can have it roll the milage over and over as long as the engine is maintaned and has been properly check over as needed.
