I hope everything works out ok. Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a neurological disorder that can happen when the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves.
This usually starts with the patient having weakness in the arms and legs, and it gets worse and worse, and then eventually, ALL the muscle groups are attacked---including the ones to breath. THIS makes it SERIOUS and SCARY. HOWEVER.....MOST PEOPLE COMPLETELY RECOVER.
I will include a good link for you that explains things better.
His doc said he MAY have it. Also, if it is, at least it is one of the REVERSABLE ones.
You are referring to Guillaine Barre syndrome. It is a neurological condition, thought to be caused in most patients by an immune response to a gastrointestinal or respiratory viral infection in the few weeks before the symptoms start. It is characterised by ascending numbness and paralysis, starting in the legs and then arms and face. Swallowing can be difficult and sometimes the respiratory muscles can also be paralysed, in which case the patient needs to have their breathing supported by a ventilator until the paralysis resolves. It can be treated with immunoglobulins and around 80% of patients will completely recover, although recovery can take many months. Bear in mind this is potentially a serious disease and you should ask your doctor for further explanation. There is also an excellent patient support group which you can access at www.gbs.org.uk. We did not find results for: aguilan baret syndrome. Try the suggestions below or type a new query above
This is what I found the name aguilan can't be found, there are Barret, and they are connected to G.E.R.D esophagus and such as that.
I put in ASK and Yahoo search. Are you sure you spelled these right?===
