Japanese: Questions about 長 and 間?
My big questions are:
1) 長く before a verb (last example) and 長い before a noun or the copula -- is this correct?
2) When is 間 used? Like are b and c both correct and mean the same thing? How do d, e and f compare with each other?
3) Are any of the sentences below wrong (or awkward)?

a) これは長い会議です
This will be a long meeting
b) 会議は長いです
The meeting will be long (for sure)
c) 会議は長い間です
The meeting will be a long time
d) 会議は長い間掛かります
The meeting will take a long time (fore sure)
e) 会議は長い間掛かるでしょう
The meeting will take a long time (probably)
f) 会議は長く掛かるでしょう
The meeting will take awhile (probably)

1) 長く(Renyoukei) modifies verb, adverb and adjective like “adverb”.
長い((dictionary form) / Rentaikei) modifies noun, pronoun and です as adjective.
2) In modern standard, かかる is used. From a to f, they are all correct on “long”.
But usage of 長い間, c) is wrong. The structure is “ N1=N2”. This is fraud in the actual meaning. The meeting will be long (for sure) は「会議は長くなります」.
And 長い間in d~e is rarely used in formal as it does not fit to the business expression. 長時間is preferred. The long days is more close.この絵は、長い間かかりましした。-is a typical expression. As for your “speculations” like でしょうare correct.

nagaiaida is the part between point A and point B. and that it is long.
I think there are two adjectives rentaikei and shuushikei (I think) where the sentence ends with nagai. nagai and nagai one is rentaikei and one is shuushikei
then renyou kei is another thing.

that kanji is used for period or time to do something (in terms of time and what not)
and its read as じかん
if you put it with the kanji for time , then it would be read as period of time
if you put it with to eat , it would be time to eat
