It seems to be the same discussions on here and repetitive answers. "Evidence evidence evidence" or a ton of quoted scriptures. Why do people continue? Have you ever convinced/converted anyone on here?

It's a waste of time because both sides are determined they are right. However, since theist are making claims they should be able to back them up, which they can't. I'm not trying to convert anybody, but I think EVERYONE should question their beliefs sometimes. I'm here because I'm interested in people, their minds and belief systems. I'm interested in Psychology and religion. Why do some people read the Bible and see fiction and others see plausible reality?
I've been using YA for years but until recently, never used this section. I was hoping to get some questions I have on religion answered for me, but so far no one has which is quite disappointing. I think some of it is down to the amount of trolls we get on here so maybe they think I'm trying to show them up. I would love to have a good conversation with someone about this topic but they never seen to want to. I ask if I may ask them a question. They say yes. I ask. They never come back or they throw a hissy fit and block me for asking a question they said I could. Even after I tell them, it's personal curiosity and not a trick or spiteful thing.
I agree with you but I think I'm a “typical atheist” when I say I have NO desire to try to “convince” anyone that “God” doesn't exist. I imagine that a person's faith is important to them and I would be really concerned if anything I said or did affected that.
So far as I'm concerned there is no “God” and it makes no sense to believe that there is, but people can believe what they want - it's none of my business!
The only time I'm really “interested” enough to enter the atheist vs theist argument is when someone (usually a theist) says something REALLY ridiculous on a site like this or when a question or comment is addressed to “atheists”. I live in the UK and I've never encountered any religious maniacs like those that that post on YA. In “real life” I can't recall ever saying anything negative about a person's religion or having any kind of religious argument with any believed.
Trying to convince me that someone I know personally and live in daily relationship with doesn't exist is really pretty foolish. You might as well try to convince me my wife doesn't exist.
People don't change their minds about things like religion or a lack of belief in any gods.
That doesn't stop them from trying of course.
We show results, atheists deny. They are in denial.
Theirs is an alternative reality that leads to NOW, presumes much and means nothing.
It's like a pond: it looks still but underneath it's changing, active.
Some of us are strengthening our understanding.
So flux is there.
Check this out if you think it is a waste of time

Maybe one day someone will demonstrate something that settles the debate once and for all.
The general purpose, when it's not PURE repetition (see answers from the rosary guy. see answers from the rosary guy, see answers from the rosary guy), is for people who are on the other side to see that there is more than one side to the issue.
So, if an atheist is seeing answers from Christians, the atheist will feel better knowing that there are other atheists who disagree with the nonsensical Christian answers.
Yes. But it's sometimes entertaining,
I don’t waste my trying to convince anybody on their beliefs.
I would listen to them
People who,try to change others are weak in their beliefs . They feel threatened
Sure. When prayer never works, and believers are convinced it works 100% of the time--we can't change the minds of people so deluded.
