Is £50 per door too much for replacing 8 internal doors? I know he is a good carpenter.?
This is not including the doors (which I have to buy so he is not marking up that price). My parents thought that sounded a lot but I have no idea, he is a friend of a friend so I know his work is good, this detail alone makes me keen to use him because it can be hard to find good tradesman without recommendations but obviously I do not want to pay way over the odds.

That sounds about right. Perhaps a little lower than what I would charge, yet a deal. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for and if you go for the "cheapest deal" you will get just that. Perhaps shoddy work and no attention to detail.
Yes 50 per door not including the doors, is a good price. I personally charge 65 per door. You probably won't get much cheaper unless you install them yourself.
