Instead of any advice, I'll give you the ONLY sustainable advice.
To stop being fat, you must stop creating it. You are doing this by consuming too much fructose AKA sugar, HFCS, honey, nectar, juice, molasses, maple syrup and white flour products (most breads, crackers and pastas).
Stop consuming these for a month and I bet you'll never go back.
Now, it's a battle between your wish not to be fat and your addiction to sugar.
This was the decider for me: too much fructose causes diabetes II, most heart disease, hypothyroidism, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, acne, IBS and most eating disorders.
JK, those were my primary reasons to quit. I quit smoking cold turkey after 11 years and quitting sugar was MUCH easier.
Do yourself a favor and read the book "Fat Chance" by Dr. Robert Lustig M.D. for all the details that there are too few characters here to describe.
This is science, not some moneymaking scam like all the rest of the diet programs.
Being fat is reversible
Stop eating sugar, anything with wheat and grains, no dairy products (a little cheese is ok but not processed cheese like kraft singles or velveeta). Eat green and colorful vegetables, meats cooked in healthy fats.
eat less and exercise a lot more
Eat less and exercise
Eat more healthy food
Prepare an informative presentation on the value of certain foods in the prevention of diseases, and how purchasing and eating them is cost effective in the long run. Then, provide an agree/disagree discussion guide to lead him in a discussion pro or con on the points just raised. You now have a job, educating your father. Also, make sure you really want kale, quinoa, broccoli, cartots, range free chicken, ocean caught fish, etc. It would be a shame to demand better options only to find that you don't like them and really prefer your current way of eating. Regarding trampoline, my neighbor did it daily, the mini one, and was skinny. But maybe, she always was.
Stop eating tomatoes, peanuts and beans and a couple other things I forget that was in this one seeming 1/2 way decent article.
