子ドルしかない。
I'm having trouble understanding how しか + ない means only.
If しか means only, wouldn't this mean I don't only have five dollars? Why does it mean the opposite?
It means «not more than», i.e. the quantity possessed by you is the minimum required in this situation.
One correction: åãã« should be äºãã«.
Well, ãã itself does not mean only.
ãã + ãªã means only, and ãã is a part of the expression.
