they done a full body scan on me when i retired and that was when they told me i had broken my back in 2 places. i am getting a little disability now. they have done everything they can and said i would just have to live with the pain.

TROLL FAIL. You did not break your back more than 60 years ago and even get INTO the military, much less learn about breaking your back TWICE only after retirement.

You are entitled to free VA medical care so, if the damage to your back can be fixed(?), the VA should provide the necessary services to provide the surgery. Note: the quality of VA medical care seems to vary a great deal depending on the area.
