The problem with "borrow and spend" and "print and spend" is that it makes it sound as if tax revenue fell - as if they're borrowing IN LIEU of taxing, as if some day you will have to - and can - just raise "taxes" to "pay for it."
The panic will set in when we realize that that's not an option. Tax revenue has come up, it won't come up faster if we raise tax rates, there is no "covering" the spending, we can only grow out of it, which takes time, and which can happen only if we cut spending.
The Republicans raised revenue - they just spent even more than the increase in revenue.
So perhaps they should be called "spend and spend." Or "grow but spend faster."
