I put down a £1000.00 on a car can I get it back? I took the car for a test drive, and signed off the paperwork for finance. I have now done my research and feel i have paid way over its value.
You may be able to get your car down payment back, all depending on the reason you left one and where the dealership applied the money. A down payment goes toward a vehicle's value, while a deposit is meant to hold a vehicle until you can return to purchase it; the two are often confused. Leasing down payments, however, are not returned
Should have been done before giving the deposit, you have also signed a finance contract and unless it has a cooling down period you are stuck with that as well.

Nope you have lost the deposit, that's the whole point in having to pay one for time wasters.
