Hermann Cortes was a Spanish Conquistador (Conqueror) from the Kingdom of Spain.
He led the Spanish Expedition into the Aztec Empire, and was mistakingly perceived as a "god" by the Aztecs (Who never seen steel armour, horses, cannons, guns or the "white skin colour")
He then infamously captured their leader, Montezuma and took the capital city of Tenochitlan (New Mexico City), single-handedly (with a couple hundred soldiers) destroying the empire and killing thousands.
He can be perceived as arrogant, clever, deceitful and greedy.
He was just ONE of many spanish conquistadors. He also wrote extensive chronicles about daily life on all the towns he visited. The people of ancient mesoamerica confused white, light colored bearded spanish men for gods given that in their own religions it was stated that Quetzalcoatl (the 'major' god for the aztecs) would come back as a white, bearded blond guy.
hes well known for taking Moctezuma and the aztec capital of Tenochtitlan. He had help from other ethnic groups (like the Tlaxcaltecas) who hated the aztecs for being imperialists *******.
He was a spaniard who is primarily famous for leading the spaniard conquest of Mexico. A cool fact is that the oldest "hacienda" in mexico is his hacienda and is still standing.
