I told him the medications that had helped me before. He said I was being offensive because I told him my diagnosis and because I told him what medications helped me, and HE was the doctor and would tell ME my diagnosis and what medication would help me. He told me my diagnosis didn't exist and the medications were unproven and he would never use them. He said I had depression and that's all it was. Should I continue seeing him?
Update:@Lab Guy - I don't blame you for not believing me, because I have been to a lot of doctors and this was the ONLY one who treated me that way! I thought I was being helpful telling him my history; most doctors appreciate it.
So in general, your advice is good.

All new doctors take medical histories of their new patients including previous diagnosis and treatments so I don't believe the part that he was offended when you told him your previous diagnosis. Sorry I don't buy it.
Whenever you see a new doctor that doctor exercises his own personal judgement as to a diagnosis and treatment. If he is brought into court for a misdiagnosis he can't tell the judge well his previous doctor diagnosed him with that judge not me and I was just giving the medication the other doctor give him so he needs to sue that other doctor not me. No, he might lose his license for being stupid. You are either under the care of your previous doctor or under the care of your present doctor. That is the point the new doctor was making.
The fact that you don't get along with him then find another doctor you get along with but don't go in to a new doctor and try to use them like a soda vending machine where you put in the quarters and expect a coke to come out.
Unfortunately there are some quacks that like to treat vague symptoms with vague treatments that sometimes don't work. You will have to find sympathetic doctors to that diagnosis who aren't quacks which can be a challenge. You might try university associated doctors or accept another diagnosis and try those treatments.
