I have recently turned 18 and Santander have switched my youth account to a student account. But according to my mum, student accounts shouldn't have overdrafts, the card should just be rejected when there is no money in it instead of allowing you to spend money that you don't have.
My sister has spent money in my account, which i didn't have so now I have a £25 charge. Is this right?
If it is, I have no problem with paying it, I just wanted to make sure first.

Talk to your financial institution about it. Many debit accounts have the option of either paying for overdraws and charging a fee for the service of your use of their money, or rejecting such transactions. If you don't like the fee ask them to reject such activity in the future.
