So in my sociology class, I’m giving a presentation on “How Americans Perceive Muslims after 9/11” and I need to be informative and be up their for about 30-40 Min long. I was wondering if you could provide me with a website or some statistics on Muslim/Arab hate crimes. Or if you have any good ideas, please feel free to leave your opinion! Thank you for your answers in advance! :)
Update:Lol just to set my answer straight, my professor wants hard facts not opinions…

Good luck it is not an easy subject to research.
Might be interesting to track over all Muslim offenders rates too? I bet they have dropped or stayed static, while crimes against them have sky rocketed.
Just a note-- from an american writer not sure who
"Terrorism is to Islam what the KKK is to Christianity"
Very true.
Note added, thank you Princess Ala (below) u r correct about internet sources. However there are reliable sources, many are peer reviewed and academically accepted, just double check your information, use the web source as a lead to original research and critique problems which may be relevant, eg 'the above source may have a slanted view due to...' This will also make you appear more balanced in your research. Of course reference everything accurately so that people can check your research. Libraries do not always have current data, but they can help you to find it.
30-40 mins long? blimey..good luck, i only manage to finish after 2 minutes at most
Americans (that i have met) told me that they will never see Islam the way it was before unfortunately and they said it just comes naturally when they think of the word 'Islam' they think of 9/11.
But obviously not all of them
Just want to let you know that statistics on the internet is likely to be unreliable data (as secondary data and you do not know the mthod of how it has been collected and the accuracy could be wrong). So i would go to like the local library to see reliable statistical books on this issue. As its more to do with conflict than truth.
evil is not muslim.just saying your muslem.does not make you muslim.its like people who think all italians are mafia.very few are interested in truth.talk is cheap.and there are a lot of cheap people around.they dont need a good reason to elect some one to be president of the united states.i like the way he looks or how some one talks,or walks.our forefathers must be turning in there grave.
Most Muslims are decent people but there are a few who make them look like terrorists but also here in the states most of us are decent people but the world looks at us like a bunch of idiots. Why is That?
Ummm... I have nothing against Muslims. On the whole, they are decent, kind human beings BUT the extremists have given Muslims a bad name... Just like in any religion, we all get our extremists...
I am Roman Catholic.
9/11 was an excuse to delve further into Islam. What was uncovered, was not very attractive. ie. treatment of women, and other barbaric practices, which were unknown (hidden) in Western world, up until then.
I would say the opinions of Americans are very unfavourable, regardless of 9/11.
The average ignorant American probably thinks all muslims are terrorists.
still just people like anyone else... misguided at times but all religions will do that to you.
It just that since 9/11 Americans ( and the rest of the western world) saw Islam for what it is
an oppressive relgion that wants to rule the world by shira law and not the peaceful relgion they say it is
yeah, here's a good one (plenty of stats):
