I just adopted a 1 yr old collie/hound mix and he is a good boy. He usually behaves himself and doesn’t bark at all. But he has to see either me and my bf or he goes crazy and starts to whine. I noticed this when my bf goes off to work at 2am and the dog thinks we both left and starts to whine. He also won’t pee on a pad.. idk how to do this. All the dogs that we had were outdoor dogs and we live in a one bed apartment and this is our first indoor dog. It’s been two days. Does this get easier? Maybe I’m just stressing over nothing?

You put him on a leash and take him outside to pee/poop every few hours till he is properly housebroken. Do NOT use the pee pads in the house - they are the worse things you can do as it only teaches the dog its ok to pee in the house on anything it wants.
With that large of a mix, you really need to take the dog outside for a lot of exercise. This size of dog is NOT suitable for apartment living.
Why are you turning your home into a doo toilet by using pee pads? This is what pee pads do.
Take the dog outside often and learn how to train him. You can find a lot of great housebreaking information if you google it.
I hope you actually walk this dog or do you expect him to live indoors all the time like an indoor cat does? Must be like jail for this poor dog. I think you’re stupid to think this would work. ‘Indoor dog’??? Especially the mix he is. Wow. I hope you either re-Home him to ppl that actually know what their doing or you should be walking him 3 times a day so he can see/poo outside. And I don’t mean 5minute walks. I actually feel really sorry for this poor dog
I have 3 words to people with large breed (40 pounds and up) dogs.
FENCED IN YARD.
Then why did you get him ?
More to the point
Throw away all your pee pads. Teach the dog to go out side. If you do not know how to potty train the dog, google 'how to potty train an adult dog?'
Pee pads stink, their are nasty, filthy & only gives the dog permission to go any where in the house he may choose. Pee pad & crates should disappear of shelves in stores or online. They should not exist. Both are misused & both are totally unnecessary.
Put a dog door in the back door so the dog can come & go at will. If you do not have a back yard for the dog, maybe re homing would be better for the dog.
To help with the separation anxiety, leave the apartment & come back in 10 or 15 minutes later, do this several times a day, so the dog will learn you always come back. Once he isn't carrying on after you leave, stretch out the length of time you are gone. Just go in & out frequently so he can be reassured that you are coming back.
i have put the comment '100% agree' on three answers. apologies but i have a broken right wrist making typing a little more challenging,
however i would be writing the same as those three answers and hope you listen.
my last words however is that i don't think this dog is suitable for you in an apartment and with obvious separation anxiety.
No dog is an indoor dog, they need at least 2 long walks a day, and as for peeing on a pad, they don't do that they pee outdoors.
You should never have taken him on.
usually gets easier. dogs can t understand your spoken language so it s harder and longer to train. it may take a while for you ,your bf and the dog to understand each other but it will get better. I promise.
It's only been two days. He';s trying to understand his new environment.
Get him some toys to play with while you're out.
You say he's a indoor dog - I'm assuming you taker him out for walks - Collie's need a lot of exercise - they like to run around.
Take him out for at least two hour long walks a day
